Veterans are invited to join the HMGT at St. James Plantation, NC. The HMGT is a group of retired Secret Service, U.S. Military, Federal/State/Local Government, Business Professionals, and supporters and friends that get together to honor those who served our Country and enjoy good times. Activities take place from 28-31 May 2025. In 2024, over $3,000 was raised at these events, and donated to the Richard H. Stewart Jr. Charitable Foundation to benefit Veterans and youth in Brunswick County.

Mark your calendars for the 2025 Heroes Memorial Golf Tournament (HMGT) at St. James Plantation, NC, from May 28th to June 1st! Friday, May 30th is a free evening, and Sunday, June 1st is your travel day.  This year’s honorees are Evan and Karen Jenkins. Evan, a former US Secret Service Agent, is one of the original HMGT founders and Chairman.

Golf Information:

  • Contact Tony Savastana or Greg Regan by May 14th to confirm your participation.
  • A one-time $20 fee will be collected from all competitive and scramble golfers upon arrival, for prizes and a charitable contribution.
  • Mulligans for Sunday’s scramble at the TBD course will be sold at the Welcome Reception by Kathy Savastana (1 for $10, 3 for $20, $20 max per person). Proceeds benefit the Richard H. Stewart Jr. Charitable Foundation, St. James American Legion Post 543.
  • Raffle tickets will also be available for purchase. Donations of raffle prizes are greatly appreciated. Contact any HMGT coordinator if you can contribute.
The last day for receiving commitments to attend will be May 7th for the Saturday Night May 31st Banquet at Members Club and May 14th for the Thursday May 28th Welcome Reception at Woodlands Park.

3. Thursday Dinner:

  • Location: Mr. P’s Bistro (309 N. Howe St, Southport, NC 28461)
  • Details: Special menu selected by the restaurant and the Carusos. Guests pay for their own meals.

  • Details: Honors heroes and tournament winners. Raffle winners will be announced.

    • Entrée Choices: Pesto Pasta, Chicken Parmesan, Grilled Salmon, Braised Beef Short Ribs
    • Dessert: Limoncello Cake
